The yearlings are keeping everyone so busy it seems some staff are clearly exhausted. Recently there have been photos and reports in the press about BBC staff and members of parliament falling asleep "on the job" and at Sun Hill, we don't like to feel left out.
This morning Aslam (better known as "The Captain") took a nap while riding Stripey out with the yearlings, his job "had been" to lead them but it seems he thought Allen meant he should adopt the foetal position or something approaching that, when in fact Allen had said do a "figure of eight"!
Serioulsy however, Aslam is never asleep on the job, he is - like all our staff hard working, reliable and a great team player which is more than can be said about 'some' younger members of staff in racing. Sadly the young man we set off on a weeks trial last week looked promising but he disappeared without trace last night. Maybe he had a date? Talking to other trainers it seems the problem remains as widespread now as it ever was. It's a big shame because for anyone willing to work, who posseses a love of horses and the countryside, there isn't a job like it anywhere in the world. It's simply the best.
