It was very much a case of 'rain stops play' with 29 non-runners at Pontefract alone today, two of which were our own 'Troop' and 'Rosina'. It's a shame as part owners of Troop, Derek and Sandra Shewring, had come up from their base at the other end of the country to see him run but it can't be helped and of course they too only want the best for him. The rain poured relentlessly yesterday and it was reported in the press that we had a months worth in just one day. Not what you expect in August. I'm sure farmers across the country had their heads in their hands. Hopefully tomorrow's runners won't be affected by a ground change, as three head to Newcastle to do battle on the all-weather, where going should always remain 'as standard'.
