As the saying goes, 'there's no rest for wicked'... well, we must've been very naughty in our past lives as this Monday was just as manic as all the others. The farriers always make the first of their bi-weekly visits on Monday, to make sure the horses (especially those entered/declared to run) have perfectly trimmed feet and freshly fitted shoes. Dale had just enough time to ride a couple of lots before getting Kylie Rules ready for a trip up to Hamilton. Her best form comes over course and distance, under condtions much the same as today so hopefully this can be the day that she scores for the first time, especially when some of her connections have made the journey north. One thing is for sure, they will enjoy the hospitality at Hamilton for it is amongst the best for visiting owners. Lakme and Bibbidibobbidiboo both run at Newcastle. Two-year-old Lakme has done a lot of growing recently and has been slow to mature, she will need time and tonight will be her final run before going handicapping. Bibbidibobbidiboo has had 5 weeks off the track after a very successful summer campaign. She runs on the all-weather tonight for only the second time in her career.

The marked drop in temperature can be measured by way of the horses coats. While plenty are clutching to the last of the summer sun in their sleek warm weather skins, there's a few who have already donned their winter coats and are looking a little hairier than they were this time last week. Though it is certainly cooler, the sun remains high in the sky and horses look happy and well. On a day like today there really is no finer place than Sun Hill.
