Rain, rain and more rain.
Yorkshire has been hit with a serious amount of water in the last couple of days and though South Yorkshire seems to have had the lions share, we've also had an abundance. The ground is so soft we've had to hang fire schooling Anticipate over hurdles for now as it's just too soft for a young horse that's still learning the job. The rain didn't stop Metcalfe Fencing Contractors Ltd doing a sterling job of fencing our new paddocks. Their tracked machine has barely left a print on the grass and they've managed to fence several of the larger fields into paddocks (which will enable us to turn more horses out more often) without turning the place into a total quagmire. Mr Ingham paid us a visit this morning to see his horses, including two yearling fillies and exciting new addition 'Royal Residence', who was recently purchased for the Horses In Training sales.
Happy Birthday to Agar who goes to Newcastle this evening with Charmore and Troop, driven by Imogen who has taken the wheel of the horsebox for the first time. Hopefully we can produce a birthday winner for Agar and for the owners, many of which are in attendance tonight - I hope they've got their thermal under crackers on!
Charmore runs in the 5.05pm and Troop in the 6.35pm. Best of luck to connections.
