A beautiful start to the week with back-to-back sunshine, a welcome change after the deluge of rain we've experienced with Friday afternoon especially soggy! The result of such rain has ensured 'heavy' going for Catterick's meeting today but we're looking forward to an afternoon in the Yorkshire sunshine nonetheless, as our local track stages their final flat meeting before the jumps start there next month. We have two runners set to compete. Two-year-old colt Clotherholme lines up for the third time in a competitive looking novice (12.30pm) and though he improved a lot for his debut and is sure to have done so again for this second run also, this is not a soft touch and we will be glad to gain more experience and a handicap mark and go on from there. Cuppacoco runs in the last (4.15pm) and is currently at the fore of the market. The ground is an obvious concern but she is fit, well and happy and there's not a mulitiude of races to choose from at the moment. She wears blinkers again as they seemed to work nicely last time when she finished second at Newcastle.

Best of luck to connections who are all attending today.

Meanwhile, at home, the yearlings that arrived last week have begun their education. Anna and Allen are looking after them, imparting their years of experience while the girls are doing a stirling job of keeping things ticking over nicely while some of the chaps are away on their winter holidays. Troop has been in great form and will take his chance down at Wolverhampton tomorrow, we're still chasing that winner so fingers and toes crossed please!
