Hot Cuppacoco...in this weather?!

A glorious couple of days in North Yorkshire, with the sun splitting the rocks today especially. Our recent runners enjoyed a relaxing morning in the paddocks while the lads had those to be ridden out in good time to beat the heat. Horses set for the water treadmill were especially lucky as the water temperature is kept very cool and must be extremely refreshing when the weather is so hot. Cuppacoco, who set off for Hamilton at 7am this morning to make her seasonal reapperance, ran a really nice race to be fourth, beaten less than two lengths and staying on. She can be rather hard to predict, quite often excercising her female prerogative and not always letting us know what sort of mood she's in until the gates ping open! Nevertheless, an encouraging opening to her campaign which she should go on to build upon. We won't have another runner before the weekend at the earliest, which gives us chance to have the horse box serviced as well as allowing Dale a little respite. The season has only just begun but it can be tough spending a lot of time on the road as a travelling headman and he always does a great job of organising all the gear for both horse and jockey, travelling horses there safely and turning them out really well.

In other news, our lodges have been given the go ahead to reopen on 4th July and we look forward to seeing some of you back here in the not too distant future!
