Racing Welfare - Supporting Racing's Workforce

The Wensleydale Heifer is a hugely popular restaurant, not just in the local area but across the county and certainly amongst the racing community here. Excellent food in the comfort of a traditional country pub with a welcoming warm ambience, what more could you want? We always recommend the Heifer to visitors of the yard and the lodges while Ann and George can often be found enjoying 'the best' Sunday roast there with owners. We are very happy to throw our support behind their charity calendar, in which the team have shed the layers and posed 'in the buff', all in aid of Racing Welfare, to which 100% of the profit (£6) from the sale of the calendar will go. Our very own Eddie, pictured below in the garden shot, also features in the calendar - that's good enough reason to buy one alone, but if you need a little more persuasion, let me share some more information about the charity they're supporting...
Racing Welfare offers ‘professional guidance and practical support’ to the backbone of racing: stable, stud and racecourse staff. From career advice, matters of mental health and relationships, to housing, accidents and money issues, the experienced team behind Racing Welfare are on hand to help. Those in need of assitance can access help through digital, live chat, telephone and SMS text options 24 hours a day. Ex-jockey Robert Winston was recently on Racing TV, discussing the personal battles he has faced throughout his career in this high pressured industry. His story, amongst others much closer to home, teaches us that we must ask for help when we need it. Do not suffer in silence.
