Racehorses for sale might have to be the new "buzz word" but the reality is there is a "fair bit of work" going into these babies right now and everyone is flat out. Which of course is exaclty how we like it. Anna has almost finished her second batch of breakers and these will probably come back to the main yard tomorrow. Jackie and Brian Storey are travellling daily from their base in Cumbria to the farm to break in another batch and Allen is due back at work soon after his shoulder was broken in three places some six weeks ago. The babies he will break in are already at Sun Hill and while Anna has loved the escape from the burden of paperwork she will now be able to get back on top of her office job and still be able to break one or two more in from the main yard while keeping a close eye on Allen!
The coughing and lung infection which has been quietly trying to spread for some time has now claimed another few victims this week, just when I thought the all too frequent visits from our vets - and the corresponding bills that accompany those visits -would slow down as the season draws to a close. I am just thankful that the horses stayed healthy "in the main" for most of the season.
