The National Trainers federation or NTF as they are more widely known in racing circles, do a tremendous job of representing and supporting the trainers who are members (about 90% of all trainers) and frankly, we would be lost without them. There is not one area of horse racing the NTF do not cover and, thanks to their hard work and dedication, us trainers now have a collective "voice" on the various councils and boards in the corridors of power.
I do a little bit for them but its fair to say they have probably done a lot more for me, and others, than we can start to imagine. Today's Northern regional meeting went well and there was plenty of ground covered.
At home it was a quiet day as the usual "Thursday" jobs got underway, cleaning, steam cleaning and pressure washing, raking, sweeping, disinfecting, oiling, greasing, fuelling up and everything else that goes into the general maintenace of the yard was completed. Two lads as usual were kept busy all day working the water treadmill with 20 horses through it today including some babies who were experiencing it for the first time, while elsewhere at Sun Hill we are gearing up for a "BIG" weekend.
More on that later...............................
