While internet and telephone problems here at Sun Hill racing are nothing new, it seems the rest of the world is encountering similar, albeit life threatening and considerably more worrying issues. Someone somewhere in the world has gone mad. Our issues continue with no phone line in the house for almost six months and a hefty estimate of almost a thousand pounds to reinstate the damaged wires. The whole episode takes me back to the year 2000 when we moved into Sun Hill having bought the place in the Summer of 1999, the builders demolished the old cattle sheds, built new barns, the gallop had been installed, a horse walker, lunge ring and new post and rail fences were erected - all in less than nine weeks from start to finish. BT took a whole six months to install a phone system.
Runners are few and far between thanks to the firm ground which has been bordering on "firm" but the horses are all well, George Dryden ran a cracker in the conditions stakes race at Haydock on Saturday despite a slow pace which doesnt suit his style of running at all. Mimics Memory won her race well last week while Wild Acclaim ran well again when third behind a rocket of a thing at Ripon. We desperately need rain.
