Toboggan's Fire winning from Ann Duffield on Vimeo.
Delighted to get off the mark this afternoon, with the lovely three year old filly Toboggan's Fire 'exploding home' on her seasonal debut to give us our first win on the turf, getting the ball rolling nice and early in the season. She is in fact our third winner of the season (the previous two came on the all-weather) with her half-sister 'Toboggan's Gift' recording our first victory for the year on the sand at Southwell later followed by "Birrafun". We have now won with all of the Toboggan siblings, though sadly 'Fire' is the last foal that her dam produced. Her mother, Toboggan Lady, with whom we won 3 races as a three year old, sadly died having suffered a broken leg while at stud. Hopefully our girl can go on and continue to improve; the further she stays the more opportunities there are to be found for her and, with her dam winning over an optimum trip of 2m2f, she certainly has potential to stay further. PJ gave the filly a fantastic ride, switching her off and settling her perfectly in rear before taking advantage of a gap, blasting to the front within the final furlong to get up by a length.
We've certainly got the bit between our teeth, and with some nice horses to run we have to keep our fingers crossed that today marked the first win of many.
