Slowing down? - hardly, just as the yard seems to be slowing down in some areas, others are as busy as ever, catching up with all the jobs that have been woefully neglected over a period of many months. Staff too are away for long periods of time, currently three lads have made the long journey back home to India while others are counting down to the day when they can head for home to see their much missed families.
This winter we will have lads making journeys to Hungary, India and Australia. Many of the horses are thoroughly enjoying their rest but it will soon be time for them to start again.
James is planning to use any quiet time he manages to get by decorating his flat while the plumbers have been busy repairing showers in the Hungarian household. On the yard, there are plenty of repairs to do, the water treadmill is overdue a concrete base to the entrance and around the treadmill itself but, as I have great plans for a "foot basin" to aid the cleaning of horses feet while their legs are hosed off, it is not as straight forward as it might be.
The clippers are still constantly humming in the background and the noise is only set to get worse soon, as more horses will be clipped in preparation of them returning to full training next month.
