Visitors and a return to form?

It was good to see Toboggan's Fire return to form this evening when finishing fourth at Carlisle. Up until recently, the four year old filly had been ultra consitent but I think we can now safely say that a couple of below par perfomances this season were the result of the (previously blogged about) virus we were suffering. Thankfully yard favourite, Toboggan's, gives us hope that the worst is behind us.

It's always great to see our owners and today we welcomed Mark and his son Robbie, who made the drive down from Ayrshire to see their syndicate filly, 'Clifftop Dancer'. Clifftop was cantering once up the all-weather this morning under Shane Gray before relishing the attention her visitors bestowed on her. She's a sweetheart who loves being fussed and cuddled. Mark works as a mounted police officer and it was fascinating to hear about the training and requirements of a police horse. Mark rides an 18 hh clydesdale called 'Franco' because he is infact the Frankel of clydesdale racing, an unbeaten 'race' horse who has been ridden by professional jockeys on the track! All in the name of good fun of course! Hopefully we can be as lucky with Clifftop Dancer, I don't think life as a police horse would quite suite her...
