We were absolutely delighted to celebrate another win courtesy of 'Highly Focussed' on Thursday evening at Newcastle, his fourth of the season. It was well documented on the blog that he had serious issues with his right eye, which greatly affected his training for the best part of two seasons. If it wasn't for the patience of his owner, Evelyn, Duchess of Sutherland and a fantastic team of vets, he may never have ran this year. Of course we are thrilled that he was given the chance. He so clearly enjoys his racing now, after every win his ego is boosted a little further and he becomes more and more confident. Two-year-old filly 'You Little Beauty' almost gave us a double but had to settle for the runner up spot - yes, another 2nd - our 5th in the last couple of weeks!
Hoping to keep the ball rolling and 'strike' tonight is Ninepin Bowler. He ran a great race last time out when 2nd over course and distance, clearly feeling the benefit of his wind operation and application of the hood. Sils Maria lines up for the first time (4.30pm Newcastle) and more about her can be seen on the Ann's Thoughts page. Her owners are very much looking forward to a day at the races with their grey filly after waiting patiently all season. Share holder Jerry Ward has a wonderful attitude and said during the week 'we will enjoy champagne at 4.35pm on Saturday whether we win or lose!"
Best of luck to our owners with runners this afternoon!
Highly Focussed
