This morning's blue sky was swept aside by lunchtime as snow flurried the to the ground and soon began to settle. Catterick's jump meeting was abandoned (amongst others), with fellow Northern tracks Wetherby and Musselburgh also forced to conceed defeat tow days ahead of their scheduled Saturday cards, despite best efforts of racecourse staff. Luckily, some of the weekends meetings have survived, so those looking forward to watching an afternoon of sport in front of the fire won't be disappointed.
We recently received an email from a lady called Jo who now has the recently retired 'Symphonic', previously owned by Sandra and Derek Shewring. Jo waxed lyrical about the lovely 4-y-o daughter of Mason, delighted with her gentle temperment and kind nature. Nicknamed 'Luna', she will be retrained to event and may even enjoy a bit of hunting next winter. She has the company of another ex-race horse with whom she has already made firm friends, hacking out in his company but equally happy to do so alone. It's always lovely to hear that one of our former charges has found a wonderful home - and also, quite a relief! Derek and Sandra were equally pleased to hear that Symphonic is happy, settled and much loved by her new owner and we all wish the new pairing the very best in all future endeavours. A big thank you to Solaway Racehorses for their part in ensuring a fantastic future for a lovely filly.
If you have an ex 'Sun Hiller', please do send news and/or photos, we would love to hear from you!
Happy ears! Symphonic and her new friend
